About the Artist
Joan is best known for her exploration and portrayal of the natural and unnatural beauty around. Her North Wales home provides the artist with an abundance of material. This can be seen in her representation of a photo the artist took of the Menai Bridge in Anglesey. The pastel painting shows how the artist plays on the color of nature and the unnatural. Her love of nature is also seen in this second pastel painting of her portrayal of just a small part of the Snowdonia Mountain Range. Although there is an element of the artist being self taught she has had the opportunity to study with three renowned artists. Enid Woods an established American pastelist: Paul Pigram a UK and international pastelist and author: Martin Close a UK and international oil painter. Studying with these artists has enabled Joan to progress and develop. Her style is simplistic working mainly in pastels and oils
